Heatuda lies in the transitional divide between the cool temperature hills and the sub-tropical Terai region. The surrounding hills above the town are home to many exotic species of wildflower and birds. Oriental Realm species of avifauna are found in abundance, and rare flora like orchids can be seen growing in the wild. And within Nepal, it is only around Hetauda that one may catch a sight of lbisbill.
